D.I.Y. Back Yard Landscaping ROCKS!

Before.

after weed trimming.

after sod laying, but before completion.

We've been working on the back yard now for about 6 months, we finished most of the interior projects and have been branching out to our huge front yard and decent sized back yard. We're into native plants but we compromised our morals to have somewhere for our daughter to roll around and play; so, we have a small patch of grass. The rest is rocks and the other half will be my garden. I missed the fall planting season since I was 8 months pregnant, but will be planting eggplants and more in the spring!

My father-in-law gifted these rocks to Husband as a partial birthday present. Last year he got us the orange and lemon trees as a present to each of us for our birthday gifts. We REALLY appreciate our families and all they do for us. They're so involved and generous. Even my nephews wanted to help out when they saw all the rocks. Super cute, since they youngest could barely hold the shovel.

After.

One half done, another half to go. If you noticed the orange tree was in a different spot its because the other one died! We had the warranty and they replaced it, we thought it might have something to do with the shade, or soil so we moved it into the yard more. And I miscalculated the amount of bricks we needed so I have to head back to home depot to get a few more to put around the tree. But, other than that, it's done :)

Garden,
I will tackle you this spring. You will grow food for my family and friends. You will be fruitful. You will be appreciated. You will go against nature, by growing non-native plants in the desert, but you will forgive me because I will do my best to replenish you with my compost. You will be wonderful.

Sincerely,
Jenn

p.s. you will also be featured on my blog.
