I guess we've got a tradition going, we've been to the Desert Botanical Garden's Pumpkin Festival every year since Sonja was 1! Three years later and we're still enjoying the games, music and field of pumpkins only accessible by hayride. The festival lasts 4 days a year, and it's free to members. Normally, I have a membership but in an effort to save money we've cancelled all memberships. SO! to get in, we utilized the library's Culture Passes {and had to pay child admission for Sonja}. My sister in law actually got us the pass, because our local library was out of them. Once we checked in, we took the hayride to the pumpkin patch. Here are a few images from the trip...
Fake leaves because we don't have real ones and first stop; the hay maze.
Sonja had a great time leading the way.
All of the pumpkins!
Once the girls picked out their pumpkins we went to the decorating booth.
Vera loves markers so it's no surprise she used Sharpie all over her pumpkin.
and Sonja added all the stickers.
Once Vera had her pumpkin in her hand , she wouldn't let it go, even when her big sister tried to "help" her carry it.
After the pumpkin patch we took the hayride back to the main festival with games and food.
I know everyone looks so excited to be on the hayride but really, the tractors were fun and we got a mini tour of the gardens...
plus, the smell of creosote is pretty much my favorite.
If you have a membership to the Desert Botanical Gardens {and even if you don't} I highly recommend this annual activity. One more item off our Schutsky Fall List!
