Bitches Food Club no. 19 {Welcome Diner}

Bitches have been busy! It's nice to have everything calming down after the holidays and we were all ready to enjoy another restaurant.  This month for our meet up we decided to try Welcome Diner.  Its been on my list for a while now, I just needed an excuse to check it out...
First let's talk about how much I love the actual trailer and vintage feel of the place.  It's tucked into a neighborhood in downtown phoenix, and the patio seating is the perfect ambiance for some burgers and fries, like you're hanging out in your best friend's backyard barbecue.
Bitches have reservations.
We loved the simplified but wholesome menu.
You can find the daily specials posted nightly and on their facebook page, here.
Ordering directly from the trailer window was a nice break for our usual check paying experience when I normally have to do all the math and numbers.
oh, Tammy!
Macey ordered a whisky sour and they added a cherry garnish. yumm.
Gin and Tonic.
I mean what else would you expect from us bi-o-tches?
Above: the Carol, (pulled pork on a biscuit + coleslaw) and a side of brussel sprouts.
Fried Green Tomato Sandwich. A Bitches Favorite.

I wanted something with protein but also vegetarian so I asked for a custom biscuit with 2 over easy eggs and a side of brussel sprouts.  The biscuit was one of the best I've ever had, each flaky bite practically melted in my mouth and the brussel sprouts were both crispy but fully cooked in a balsamic-esq sauce and delicious.
These fries were seasoned and crispy and highly recommended.
Servers be creepin'
sisters not twins.

The Full Review {their full menu here}:

Favorite Appetizer: We didn't really order an appetizer because we were all so hungry when we got there.  I think the Fries might be a good side to start with but it's more of an all at once type of place.

Favorite Drink: I ordered a grapefruit, vodka, mint cocktail and I did not regret it.

Favorite Entree: A few of us bitches ordered the Fried Green Tomato Sandwiches and that seemed to be a crowd favorite.

Mistakes {corrections?}: None.

Loved: The ingredients, the type of food, the real ceramic not plastic plates and their to-go containers.  I am always {obnoxiously} excited when I get something to go and it's not in Styrofoam! or plastic! They have paper boxes and I don't have to worry about all the cancer!  Also they have the perfect patio for evening dining.  It's a small space which is great for an intimate experience with friends and family.

Didn't Love: Parking.  Because it's a restaurant tucked in a neighborhood, there isn't a parking lot for it, and the street parking fills up quick.  So carpool if you can and hope that the water refill lot across the street has an open space if there's no room on the street

Would we eat there again? Yes.  I immediately went home and told Husband that we needed to go there again this week, because he's all about the burgers and I'm all about the good food, and the kids are all about a place we can eat that they can play and be loud {see also; anywhere outside}. It was reasonably priced and the portions were full.

1-10 Service {0 worst, 10 best}: 9.5  They were really great about getting us a space even though we were a large group in a small space.  They brought us our food quickly even though we ordered it spaced out as we arrived and they were super friendly and helpful.

Cost {$  $$  $$$  $$$$!}: $-$$ I spent about 20 with tax and tip and I got a biscuit with eggs, brussel sprouts AND a drink.  It was probably one of the cheapest places we've been to but the food is one of the best qualities we've had so it's really a great place!

Reservations? They're not really the reservation type, it's very causal BUT because we were such a large group {13 of us} we though we should call ahead just in case, so Stephanie did!  And good thing we did because they were a little caught off guard.  I don't think they usually have large groups, just because they're so casual and a smaller space, but they totally worked with us and got us a perfect table.
